#Jyothika I truly appreciate your appeal to directors. Glad to see a Woman, a Heroine, a person of that industry is raising voice against such discrimination and exploitation. The most important point you made is how the medium conditions the minds of the society and men in particular! Thank you!
However, may I ask if only directors / producers should take up this responsibility. Can we be ignorant to the fact that Heroes – big heroes like #ActorSurya Vijay, Ajith and many such heroes – are also one of the decision makers in script and characterization. We all are aware of the fact that they also demand ‘glamour’ from the heroines for ‘salebility’ of their films. They dare to come out of the ‘Heroism’ built by the Patriarchal society. We are infact tired of the ‘lectures’ given by these heroes about being a ‘homely woman’, ‘good woman’, ‘chaste woman’, now the trend is being ‘Thamizhachi’…. huh… I can understand how suffocating you would have felt from the way you are voicing against it.
Since you are appealing to people in the film industry, I would like to gently appeal to you to please put forward this message to Heroes in the film industry, especially to Suriya Sivakumar, because he seems to be so ‘concerned’ about various problems of the society! Let the problem of Sexism and Sexist representation in the films also add to the list.
While it feels happy to see Suriya producing woman centric films with you as heroine of the film, it is annoying to see him exploiting / allowing to exploit other woman’s body in the name of glamour! (Love_songs in a commodified manner).
Would you be able to take up this discussion with him?
